There are plenty of reasons why those who are planning to sell on their own are getting a bit nervous about FSBO sales in a buyers’ market – for sale by owner is easy enough when there are 20 buyers ready to look at the property when you walk out your front door with a For Sale by Owner sign. In a buyers’ market though, where there are about 20 homes for every buyer to look out, marketing becomes essential.
A lot of sellers who go it alone aren’t prepared to market their homes effectively – and listing agents are doing what they can to capitalize on this. “Without the MLS,” they say, “you won’t be able to sell.”
That’s enough to get some buyers thinking that they have to sell with an agent; just as a reminder though, you can sell with flat fee MLS and have your home listed in the MLS without a listing agent – for a far lower cost.
With flat fee MLS you’ll find that you have the marketing tools at your disposal to successfully sell on your own.
