When you’re going to be selling your home, it’s important to take a look at all of the options that are available to you. Sure, you could sell with a real estate agent; you could also sell on your own – a for sale by owner process. Or you could sell with flat fee MLS – something that you could think of a bit like “for sale by owner plus.”
For sale by owner – especially with the benefit of flat fee MLS – makes sense and is a great plan because:
- You’re able to set the time table for selling your home;
- For sale by owner lets you get involved in the process and to be better able to trust your gut;
- You’ll be able to focus your attention only on selling your home – not on helping other sellers and a variety of buyers as well; and
- When you sell for sale by owner, there’s no commission to be paid to a real estate agent.
When you are selling for sale by owner – or with flat fee MLS – the only thing that you need to be careful of is that you are marketing your home well; that’s where the “for sale by owner plus” element comes in; when you sell with flat fee MLS, your for sale by owner home will be marketed alongside those listed by real estate agents at a fraction of the cost.f
Just sold my house using Bloomkey. Alot easier than pestering the realtor — about a quarter of my traffic indicated that they had an interest in the house BECAUSE there was no realtor. Net not a whole lot different than what I got when it was listed, but the lower price definitely increased traffic. Wish I had listed with Bloomkey first and avoided the cut rate realtor.
